Oracle continues to work closely with key partners to deliver innovation around the Java platform. This year the programming language and computer platform, marked 20 years on May 26th since the release of its first version, recording over 13 billion devices running on it.
This was announced during the JavaOne keynotes, an event that attracted over 10,000 people and runs concurrently with the Oracle OpenWorld Conference that attracted over 60,000 people.
Robert Clark Senior Developer of product development for the Internet of Things, highlighting Oracle’s ongoing investment on Java and ability to continue evolving and remaining relevant said that one of the greatest shift businesses and developers were facing was the Internet of Things and Java was looking into innovative ways to help them through the shift. Java has created the Java ME, which can be applied by IoT app developers and Entreprise IT Pros could use the skills from Java ME to create apps for their organisations.

Speaking on Accelerating Java for a Connected World, and how developers can leverage on this to build amazing solutions, Michael Greene, Vice President and General Manager System Technologies and Optimization Software and Service Group, Intel announced that Intel also announced that Intel’s IoT Developer kit will now support Java as this will make it easier for companies to include the power of Intel Chips on small edge devices.
Java One 2015 included more than 400 technical sessions and more than 60 exhibitors . The conference organized eight learning tracks which included Core Java Platform, Java and Security, Emerging languages, Java DevOps and the Cloud, Java and the Internet of Things, Java and server side development, Java Clients and user interfaces and Java Development Tools and Agile Techniques.
In celebrating the 20 years of innovation Oracle also plans to showcase unique interactive twenty year display that focuses on the past present and future of Java.
