Microsoft today launched its Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL premium phones, which will run on Windows 10, in the Kenyan market. The launch took place in Nairobi’s Westlands area, at the Nairobi garage, where Microsoft not only launched the Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950XL but also showcased two more phones which are part of the company’s new era of Windows 10 Devices. The two new phones include; Microsoft Lumia 650 and Microsoft Lumia 550.
“One of the guiding principles of the Microsoft devices vision is that it’s not just about the device itself, but what you’re able to get done with it” said Mr. Kingori Gitahi, Product Manager, Microsoft Devices East Africa, during the launch.
Kingori continued talking about the Lumia 950 and 950 XL saying that they were “futer proofed” because of the ability to upgrade the phone’s memory up to 2 terabytes with micro SD card, a size not yet in the market as the largest SD card is 1 terabyte by SanDisk.

Another feature of the Microsoft Lumia 950 is the ability to transform your phone to a PC-like experience with Continuum for Phones and the Microsoft Display Dock. What that really means is that in the absence of a laptop or desktop, you can still use your phone to scale apps beautifully on a bigger screen when connected, or work on an Office document, browse the Internet and even stream full HD movies downloaded from the Windows Store.
It also still allows you to use your phone independently to do something different, for instance, taking a call or sending a text message while you continue to enjoy apps on the bigger screen. With the latest-generation PureView cameras with 20-megapixel sensors, triple LED natural flash and 4K video capture, the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL enable faster focus and crisper images and videos even in challenging conditions.
The Microsoft Lumia 950 retails for Ksh 65,000 while the XL version retails for Ksh 70,000. For a limited period of time, both phones will come with the Microsoft Display dock free of charge.

The latest addition to the Microsoft Mobile Devices family, the Microsoft Lumia 650 is built for business users and Windows fans alike and brings the power of Windows 10 for under Ksh 23,000.
“With a highly polished, diamond cut and anodized aluminum frame, measuring at only 6.9mm thick, the Microsoft Lumia 650 is our thinnest phone ever. Its crisp 5 inch HD display provides a clear and bright viewing experience, even in direct sunlight. The Microsoft Lumia 650 also features up to 200GB of expandable memory for flexibility on the go.” added Mr. Gitahi.
For people who value affordability, uncompromised quality and signature Microsoft services, Microsoft Lumia 550 combines superfast Internet, the latest Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ quad-core processor with ultrafast LTE speeds, and the best of Microsoft services for just Ksh 13,999.
