In Observation of Social Distance order to curb the contagious coronavirus, consumers of different products have had to embrace online and digital shopping across Kenya and globally.
In a collaboration to provide its cardholders with exclusive offers when shopping from home, including free deliveries and discounts on food and essential items, Mastercard is partnering with key entertainment, shopping, and delivery platforms.
As part of the collaboration, Glovo and Tuskys will offer free deliveries on all items purchased using Mastercard in Kenya while in Nigeria, Nairabox, Ulesson, and Showmax will give special discounts. Mama Rocks Burgers and Art Caffe Market Place will offer customers up to a 30 per cent discount on their menus across Africa while Jumia offers discounts on essential items. Further, Senegalese Sakanal, will deliver orders free of charge.

“In today’s challenging environment, it has never been more important to encourage the use of digital payments for the purchases of goods and services,” said Raghav Prasad, Division President, Sub-Saharan Africa, Mastercard.
Through these partnerships, Prasad noted, Mastercard is not only incentivising consumers to purchase products and services safely and seamlessly from the comfort of their own homes, but also reinforcing its commitment to creating a world beyond cash to drive economic development.

According to Statista, a statistics portal, the total value of e-commerce transactions in Africa reached Us $16.5 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach US $29 billion by 2022, with Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya accounting for more than half of online shoppers across the continent.
