Leverage on technology to achieve the Big Four Agenda

The ICT Authority recently hosted over 20 government agencies in a Nairobi Hotel, to discuss on how to leverage on ICT in the implementation of the Big Four Agenda.

The forum, presided over by the Principal Secretary for State Department of Innovation, Jerome Ochien’g, emphasized on the need for collaboration between various government agencies to fast track the achievement of the Big Four Agenda and enable better service delivery to Kenyans.

The ICT Authority Ag. CEO, John Sergon, also urged partnerships between government agencies as the key to drive the country’s economic agenda.

“Connected Kenya Summit has always provided the forum for all of us to come together and share our experiences. One of the ways through which we are enabling this is through the Connected Summit which brings together everyone in the ICT sector to define the future,” said Sergon.

This year, the Connected Summit anticipates hosting over 500 delegates from across East Africa. It will be held at the Bomas of Kenya from 22nd to 24th October under the theme, ‘Preserving our heritage, Pioneering technology.’ It is supported by Telkom Kenya, Atlancis Technologies, Cellulant, Liquid Telecom and Intel among other partners.

The head of ICT at Sony Sugar Company Limited, James Oluoch, who attended the forum, challenged ICT service providers to generate solutions that will deliver connectivity to the grassroots in order to maximize impact for the citizens at the grassroots, who are the real implementers of the Big Four.

Other guests who attended the event lauded the initiative, citing it as a step in the right direction for the sector which has experienced tremendous growth over the last decade.

Susan Kisaka who was representing the National Housing Corporation said, “Technology has done so much for us. We are committed to delivering on the Big Four Agenda of Affordable Housing and NHC is now providing paperless services to our customers across the country.”

During the just concluded UN General Assembly, where President Uhuru Kenyatta was appointed the Youth Ambassador, Kenya was recognized as one of the few countries in the world that have allocated 30% procurement opportunities for the youth, with ICT set to play an even bigger role in driving the country’s development agenda.
