Clare Ward an innovative and accomplished chief information officer with a track record of driving bottom line value through digital transformation has been appointed the new CIO of Kenya Airways.
With proven ability to establish new business paradigms and exploit emerging and leading-edge technologies to disrupt and gain competitive advantage across international organisations and cultures, Ward joins Kenya Airways at a time that the national airliner recently launched direct flights from Kenya to the united states of America to add value to among other flight destinations across the world.
With experience spanning over 23 years in travel and hospitality industries, Ward is expected to hit the ground running her deep expert knowledge of transforming the customer experience, delivering operational excellence and improving profitability.

Being a qualified Chartered Accountant, auditor and IT consultant, originally with PwC, Clare worked her way through the ranks to become the managing partner of the Middle East and Global Aviation Digital Strategy and Transformation Consultant at AlphaZetta based at the United Arab Emirates.
Ward was the CIO for Etihad’s Hala Group including the Loyalty, Holidays and Travel Management businesses and the Strategy Division including Revenue, Fleet and Network Management and Alliances. Accountable to re-design and deliver a new Technology and Innovation organisation, target architecture, technology portfolio and service management activities for these divisions from December 2015 to December 2016.
As the chief of staff for Etihad’s Group CIO, she oversaw the IT strategy, delivery performance, the PMO and change management. She was instrumental in the development of a new technology strategy, operating model and 5 year roadmap aligning it to Etihad’s strategy, business priorities and optimising value generation.
