KCB Online Banking Suffers Outage
KCB online banking systems experienced an outage in Kenya that started on Wednesday evening and persisted for hours rendering some users unable to perform normal transactions.
Users use the KCB online banking to pay utilities, transfer money to other accounts and access their statements. Account holders who reported experiencing challenges with the bank’s online operations on Wednesday evening took to social media to express their frustrations.
The affected individuals reported inaccuracies in their account balances, with figures showing negative amounts.

“This is the second time in a week I am getting negative amount in my account, when I am supposed to have a positive balance. What is the problem?” a concerned user lamented on social media platform X.
In response, KCB acknowledged the concerns from affected users, stating, “Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We are experiencing delays with the balance update.”
Normal online banking services resumed on Thursday morning. The latest outage comes barely a week after the bank notified its customers of service interruptions on its short code services (*522#) and KCB App.
