Digital transformation promises to completely overhaul and optimise the way enterprises engage with their customers, business networks and workforce but at the bottom of it all data will remain foundation to accelerate digital transformation.
This was said by Peter Muendo Technical Solutions Consultant at Hitachi Digital Systems (HDS). He said this during his key note at the premier Africa IoT Summit, organized by CIO East Africa where he touched on a topic themed Transform Today, Thrive Tommorrow.
Muendo walked the attendees through the three types of data; structured, unstructured and IoT Data that is helping drive agility within businesses.

Speaking at the same event, Fares Zekri, Principal Technical Evangelist from Microsoft also walked the attendees on leveraging IoT for Digital Transformation bringing out the business values driven by adoption of IoT. To accompany his presentation, Mr. Zekri also shared a video showing the adoption of IoT by Rolls Royce.

“The company included all the data coming from their engines and is now using the data to make informed decisions in the aviation industry,” he said.
He added that use of IoT Technology was cutting across all industries from Healthcare to aviation and agriculture.

The Africa IoT Summit is a two day event organised by CIO East Africa. It is part of CIO East Africa continental events that seek to delve deeper into the four key disruptive technologies that include Big Data, Cloud, Security and IoT. The summit is first of its kind in East Africa.
