Kenya’s Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS), iTax system of Kenya Revenue Authority and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) systems are now integrated.
A release signed by the Commissioner General of Kenya Revenue Authority and the Principal Secretary to The National Treasury indicates that the main objective of the integration is to streamline payment of taxes by suppliers to the National and County government entities. The integration will facilitate timely payment to suppliers, generation of withholding tax certificates on amounts withheld by Withholding Agents and faster processing of Tax Compliance Certificates (TCC).
“All suppliers wishing to do business with the government must therefore update their records in both iTax and IFMIS to avoid any inconveniences. All the businesses will be individually identified using both the PIN and the company / business registration number,” the release said.

In addition, sole proprietors operating more than one business entity, are now required to update their details in iTax for each business name.
“In order to update registration details in iTax and IFMIS, suppliers will be required to first update their records in iTax upon which they will proceed to update their records in IFMIS Portal,”the release added.
It also noted that, subsequently, all suppliers are required to liaise with the Government Procuring entities that they are doing business with and who will facilitate them to update their business names and numbers in IFMIS on or before 31st January, 2017. This process will help suppliers to ‘self-clean’ their details in IFMIS. Suppliers who will not have updated their details by the due date may have difficulties in submitting their bids through the e-procurement module and in receiving payments through IFMIS.
