Huawei, Redington partnership seeks to enhance efforts to grow Kenya’s ICT ecosystem

Huawei and Redington organised the second Partner Summit attended by 100 local IT companies who they work with to integrate Huawei’s leading ICT products in the Kenyan market.

During the Summit 43 awards were given out to the best local partners; 11 new Universities and Institutes joined as Huawei ICT Academies, Huawei exhibited the latest leading ICT technologies, and partners shared their experiences on how to grow their businesses in Kenya together with Huawei and Redington.

The 43 awards were given out in areas such as network energy products, enterprise network products, IT products, training partner and expert contributors. Notable winners included:-

• Gold Partner Award to Computech and Novel Technologies;
• Enterprise Partner of the year to Computech;
• Best Performing Sales Partners to employees from Computech, Express Automation, Sybyl, and Atlancis;
• Solution Partner of the year to Siemens.

Speaking at the Summit, Huawei Technologies Kenya CEO Mr. Stone He stressed on the power of working together: “We cannot be successful without our partners, and we cannot develop partnerships unless our partners benefit as much or even more than us from the partnerships”, he said.

Mr. He added, “I want to make sure that you can benefit from working with us, and I personally want to make sure you can talk to us and give us the feedback and ideas so you can benefit. We want to be your partner of choice, and Ihope that today’s event, with announcements of cutting edge products and partnership incentives will enable this. This is something that Huawei has made major R&D investments into the development of, and is one of our biggest strengths”,

11 new ICT Academies joined Huawei’s network in Kenya including Katarina University, Laikipia University, Machakos University, Meru University of Science and Technology, Meru National Polytechnic, Technical University of Mombasa, Kisii University, Kibabii University, Zalego Academy, SUMO Computers, and Botlab.In total 23 Universities and Institutes in Kenya are benefiting from Huawei’s latest curriculum, training and globally renown certifications for their students.

During the Summit, Huawei focused on leading technology solutions for data centers and storage, and in the exhibition showcased leading ICT in IP networks, Unified Communications and Collaboration, Energy, Service and other Industry specific solutions that the partners would be able to integrate into their solutions for customers.

Following the signing of a Framework Distribution Agreement in 2018 between Huawei Technologies and Redington Gulf-a distributor of IT Telecom and Lifestyle products in this market, Huawei has worked with Redington to provide cutting-edge equipment including data centre facilities, IT and communications hardware and software for the Kenyan market. The products are backed by an experienced technical team to provide training and support to handle turnkey client solutions deployment.

On its part, Redington, has been handling the local channel development for Huawei Technological solutions through its extensive market network. Redington provides end-to-end Supply Chain Services and Solutions for leading IT manufacturers and has hundreds of local ICT companies in its network.

During the ceremony that was attended by more than 100 local ICT companies, customers such as KCB alongside partners such as a Computech and Com21 praised the quality and leadership of Huawei’s products and service, whilst explaining how they work with Huawei and Redington to grow their own businesses.

Huawei and Redington have reiterated their commitment to facilitating a digital transformation ecosystem to implement joint innovations and expand the ecosystem in terms of industry alliances, business alliances, developer platforms, and open-source communities.
