Huawei enterprise Kenya recently announced the launch of their latest Wi-Fi product, the Huawei Wi-Fi 6 during their IP technology seminar held at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel Nairobi, Kenya.
The announcement was made by Michael Liu, CTO, Huawei Enterprise Kenya, who informed attendees at the seminar that Wi-Fi 6 uses the latest generation of IEEE wireless LAN standards, 802.11ax.
The Wi-Fi Alliance calls the new standard Wi-Fi 6 for easy reference (Wi-Fi 5 is 802.11ac). This means the Wi-Fi 6 technologies are standard and interoperate easily with previous Wi-Fi versions.

“Wi-Fi 6 is essential for transforming the way we support applications on today’s Wi-Fi networks. Its deployment allows a new and improved user experience in dense deployment scenarios compared to that of previous Wi-Fi generations” reads a statement by Huawei’s Dr. Osama Aboul-Magd on their website.
As chairman of the 802.11ax standard working group, Huawei’s Dr. Osama Aboul-Magd was instrumental in developing the new Wi-Fi 6 standard.
Wi-Fi 6 powers enterprises forward by dramatically boosting capacity and slashing delay. It offers four times the system capacity of Wi-Fi 5, four times the concurrent access, and 60 percent lower transmission latency. Wi-Fi 6 is quick and responsive. It is intended for many users who need lots of bandwidth and a great user experience.
Some of the advantages of Wi-Fi 6 includes:

- High Bandwidth which allows 4K ultra-HD video conferencing – Each participant in a 4K video conference needs 40 Mbit/s of bandwidth. The 1,024-QAM Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) delivers a stable, ultra-HD video experience to more than a dozen locations.
- High Concurrency which supports manufacturing and fast, seamless roaming – Connecting hundreds of terminals per time slice with overlapping coordination that multiplies the connections to many thousands, Wi-Fi 6 is ideal for enterprises that need stable connections to lots of locations. Manufacturing enterprises benefit from the industry-standard technologies used by Wi-Fi 6 to ensure high concurrent capacity, transmission efficiency, and continuous operation.
- Low Latency for quick VR response – For Virtual Reality (VR) to seem real, it needs to respond really fast. The new Wi-Fi 6 transmission protocol, with OFDMA technology, reduces the latency by 60 percent compared to Wi-Fi 5 and ensures an immersive VR experience for every user.
