Flutterwave’s Disha To Temporarily Close
Disha, a Nigerian based platform supporting creators in marketing and payments, has announced a temporary closure effective March 31, 2024. This decision, following its acquisition by fintech giant Flutterwave in 2021, aims to facilitate a strategic reevaluation and innovation to better serve its users.
Driven by a desire to refine its vision and explore new avenues for user satisfaction, Flutterwave has initiated an evaluation of Disha’s goals and services. While operations will be temporarily suspended, Disha assures users continued access to accounts and data throughout this period.
Over 100,000 creators, encompassing content creators, influencers, artists, writers, and designers, are encouraged to migrate their files to alternative platforms like Mainstack, Milkshake, and Linktree before the closure. Disha remains committed to keeping its community informed of future developments.

“We find joy in providing you with tools that move your craft forward, and this pause is critical in helping us rethink our focus,” emphasized Disha in a statement.
Although the closure is confirmed as temporary, a specific reopening date remains undisclosed. Users with existing subscriptions will receive full refunds.
Founded in 2019, Disha empowers creators to showcase and sell digital products, build personal portfolios, and receive payments globally.

The pause isn’t Disha’s first. In February 2021, the platform, boasting over 20,000 users, faced resource limitations and announced its closure. Before its sunset, however, Flutterwave stepped in, acquiring Disha and marking a new chapter.
Olugbenga Agboola, co-founder and CEO of Flutterwave, initially envisioned Disha as a gateway to reach a new wave of independent creators seeking tools for self-expression and financial empowerment.
Despite Flutterwave’s ambitious vision for Disha, the platform’s performance appears to have fallen short, prompting the need for reevaluation.
