Five Kenyan companies have been shortlisted as one of the African FinTech Top 3 within their respective category, out of a list of the 100 most promising African FinTech companies.
A total of 28 Kenyan companies were nominated including MPESA, 3G Direct, PesaPal and crowd sourcing platform, M-Changa. And being one of the Top 3 FinTech companies has landed the organizations an invitation to pitch at the FinTech Awards on 13 October 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The presentation includes a 7-minute demonstration followed by a Q&A will be decisive in establishing the winner of the category plus one overall winner.
The Kenyan companies as per catergory are:

- Retail Banking – Eclectics International;
- Blockchain/Bitcoin – BitPesa
- Lending & Financing – Branch
- Lending & Financing – FarmDrive
Speaking in Nairobi, Cellulant’s Ken Njoroge said “We are excited about this nomination and being among peers pursuing excellence in innovating the FinTech industry across Africa.
