Mr. Ezekiel Mutua has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
The announcement was made by Mr. Ezekiel Mutua through his Facebook page where he shared his joy and happiness for the appointment and promised to serve his country in his new capacity to the best of his abilities.
“I am happy to take up the challenge as a regulator of the robust film industry in Kenya to ensure that the content conforms to national aspirations, morality and decency. As I prepare for the job/career shift, I am truly grateful to God for the opportunity to serve the country in this new capacity.” said Mr. Mutua.

Mr. Mutua is set to take on responsibilities such as: ensuring that there is effective communication between the board and the management as well as between different levels of management, enhancing the organization’s image by fostering corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate citizenship, ensuring compliance with the Constitution of Kenya and any other law relevant in the management of the Board but to name a few.
The new CEO has a long history of success as a consummate career media practitioner, with immense passion for communication and opinion driving in both private and public sector with skill sets ranging from writing, political campaigns, government, corporate communications and editing.
Mr. Mutua is in the Board of Directors of Kenya Copyright Board as the alternate to Principal Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and he has risen through the ranks, from a trainee reporter (1994) to a sub-editor (1998) at the Nation Media Group, to become the Secretary General of Kenya Union of Journalists (2001-2007), Director of Information & Public Communications (2007-2011). He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Linguistics from Kenyatta University and a Master’s of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Nairobi.
