It’s been a long-held belief in the business world that IT automation projects are costly endeavors. This is not always the case. As with any business transformation, nothing is as it ever seems to be. In fact, with the right solution in place, you can easily streamline your IT operations to actually save your business money in the long run. Developing, implementing, and deploying IT automation projects for your organization in a way that is cost-effective and efficient is soon becoming a reality.
You may think this is easier said than done, but it’s not. IT automation tools allow you to focus on the specific pain points of your particular business, gain quick wins, and manage projects of any size. Make sure the tool is scalable to be able to grow as your business needs change.
In a panel discussion at the CIO Year Ahead forum, it was said “You have to be agile in the new normal, the only constant is change,” By Kamal Budhabatti, CEO of Craft Silicon. The panel consisted of Kenfield Griffith, CEO of Ajua, Caine Wanjau, CTO of Twiga Foods, and Michael Onyango, thought leader of emerging technologies, and the previously mentioned Kamal Budhabatti.

The panel deliberated in great detail about how digital strategies are a critical component in holding on to customers, It was also noted that a huge uptake of technology decreased the cost for its implementation as an investment, therefore reducing initial investment costs.
Griffith went on to add “Make sure you are driving consistent value for your customers.” Giving rise to the understanding that the customer is king. Onyango, on the other hand, explained just how massive the cost deficit of investment is, “The world economy lost $3 trillion to the pandemic! Just how much these stats can affect developing economies?” He then went on to explain how the entire tech landscape in Kenya, has been thrust into the fourth industrial revolution. “2020 happened, and we were propelled into the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) much faster than ever imagined.”
It’s time we dispel the myth that IT automation has to be a huge expense, making it out of the reach of small to mid-size businesses. On the contrary, when you approach your IT automation projects from the right direction, with knowledge of what to look for in a platform, and you adequately plan and prepare the right personnel for the job, it can easily be managed within just about any budget. The end result, savings across your entire organisation, will be well worth it in the end.
