Dx5 Sets Date For Smart Government Summit

Top African technology driver, dx5, is set to hold yet another edition of the Smart Government Summit, to bring together different players working with governments around Africa. The 2024 edition of the event is slated for 2nd and 3rd October, 2024 at the JW Mariott Hotel in Westlands, Nairobi.

This Summit stands at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation, bridging the gap between advanced digital technologies and government operations. It comes at a time when Africa’s digital landscape is witnessing exponential growth, with increasing internet access and mobile connectivity shaping public sector innovation.

This year, the summit will be a critical confluence for discussing the integration of digital solutions in government, offering a unique perspective on the future of digital government in Africa.

The theme of the event is ‘Reimagining Governance: Agile, Open, Inclusive’. With the advent of new technologies including Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning in the recent past, this Summit seeks to prompt discussions around how these technologies can help digitize government solutions.

The 2023 edition of the Smart Government Summit featured the Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo. During his speech, he expressed his trust in the current Kenyan government to take the country towards the next digital step. CS Owalo further talked of the importance of the private sector in achieving this and why it is crucial for the government to have a good relationship with the private sector.

This year, the Summit will also look at the progress made since last year’s Summit and what still needs to be done to catalyse digital transformation in governments.
