Technology and Education conference, an initiative between intellisoftplus and Google, kicked off today at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Nairobi, under the theme: Enhancing Learning through technology.
According to the conference program, the theme entails learning how to infuse technology and education from renowned industry experts and change the phase of learning in your school.
The opening remarks came from Dr. Pius Rutechura, who thanked guests for attending the event, he also gave CUEA as an example of an institution that helps to spur on innovation giving the fact that they host an IBM Research lab as an example.

Some of the speakers at the event included: Dr. Kamal Bhattacharya, Vice President, IBM Research – Africa, Ajay Alva, Director Training – Strategic Alliances, TechnoBrain and Prof. Daniel Oruoch, Chairman, Intellisoftplus and Former Vice Chancellor KCA University.
Dr. Kamal Bhattacharya, Vice President, IBM Research – Africa, spoke about improving E-learning in the country (Kenya) and how just having E-learning facilities will not ensure that people use them, but instead people need to have a positive attitude towards this method of learning for it to work.
Dr. Bhattacharya also said that the people to improve E-learning are the teachers, “just putting laptops in schools will not help to understand better, unless you change the way you teach.” He added.
