CA donates PCs worth Kshs 2.2 million to Gathaithi School

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has donated 30 computers worth Kshs 2.2million to Gathaithi Mixed Secondary School in Kiambu County as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The colourful computer handover ceremony was held on the school grounds in Githiga Ward presided over by the CA Chairman, Mr. Ngene Gituku and the Director General, Mr. Francis Wangusi and attended by local leaders led by the Kiambu Deputy Governor, Mr Gerald Githinji, who was the Chief Guest.

The donation is part of CA’s ongoing programme to equip some 44 school libraries across the country with computer labs in keeping with its mandate of making ICT services accessible to the majority of Kenyans.

The CA Chairman Gituku said computers have permeated every facet of service delivery and urged the students to make maximum use of them for their future benefit. “Nothing is as important today as ICTs which have enabled Kenyans to have e-education, e-government, and even e-medicine,” said Mr Gituku.

Wangusi said computers were today a way of life adding that the Authority was committed to helping the government realize Vision 2030 pillar on availability of ICTs.

The deputy governor thanked the Communications Authority for the invaluable donation of a well-equipped computer lab saying it had promoted the rural school to another level. The ceremony was also attended by CA staff including the D/HCA, Mr. Juma Kandie.
