Intel Corp will for a couple of months collaborate with radio host and poet Ms. Adelle Onyango to champion the Intel She Will Connect Program, which seeks to recruit more women into using the Internet as an empowerment tool.
Adelle Onyango currently hosts a popular mid-morning show on a Kiss 100, besides running a personal campaign dubbed ‘Project She’, which focuses on empowering women through story telling. Project She is a platform that allows women share their conquest stories and Men to celebrate different women in their lives.
Speaking on the collaboration, Intel Marketing and PR Manager for East Africa Ms. Lavinniah Muthoni said Adelle’s passion for women empowerment puts her at a convenient position to champion the Intel agenda for women and technology in Africa.

“We are inspired by Adelle’s resolve to drive an agenda using her platforms and we believe she fits in well with the Intel She Will Connect Programme at this time,” Ms. Muthoni said.
Remarking on the collaboration, Ms. Adelle expressed her excitement with the Intel project saying it focuses on a matter that is close to her heart and promises to use the opportunity to encourage more women to utilize the internet to grow.
“For me, this is an opportunity to amplify the voice in reaching out to women, who are often left behind when it comes to technology,” Adelle Said.

The Intel She Will Connect program aims to close the Internet gender gap, connecting millions of girls and women to opportunity. An Intel report called ‘Women and the Web’ discovered that on average across the developing world, nearly 25 percent fewer women than men have access to the Internet.
In addition, the report found that women are nearly 25% less likely than men to be online and this huge technology gender gap today prevents a staggering 200 million women from participating online and tapping the benefits that the internet provides. The report further shows bringing more women online would contribute an estimated $13 billion to $18 billion to annual gross domestic product across 144 developing countries
Without access to the Internet, women lack access to its tools, resources and opportunities and thus the Intel She Will Connect Programme with Ms. Adelle as the Ambassador seeks to implore the public and private sector actors to accelerate the pace of progress in bridging this gap.
