Over 60 percent of all National Government services are set to be moved to the electronic platform by the end of this year.
This was said by the ICT Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i. He also urged county governments to digitise service delivery so as to enhance efficiency and transparency in the management of public resources.
“Governments across the globe are moving their services to digital platforms and we cannot afford to remain behind as a country in this endeavor,” said Dr Matiang’i when he delivered a keynote address during two-day County Revenue Automation Conference at Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha last week.

The conference brought together County Executive Committee members in charge of ICTs and finance and their chief officers to share experiences and best practices, both local and international in automating county revenues.
Dr Matiang’i asked county governments to support the development of ICTs in the country by setting aside at least five percent of their annual budgets towards ICT development programs in various departments within their governance structures.
Dr Matiang’i said his ministry will work with the county governments to develop harmonised e-service delivery system frameworks to ensure that all government e-platforms are standardized and sustained.

“My ministry will work with you to develop harmonized electronic service delivery platforms and capacity building frameworks to ensure sustainability of the systems created,” said Dr Matiang’i.
During the conference, participants resolved to work towards forming Governors Digital Talent Program to serve as a vehicle to drive ICTs in the counties.
