Bigger and Better! All set for the #AfrSS2017

Finally, the long awaited day is here! The second Africa Security Summit is set to take place tomorrow at The Fairmount Norfolk in Nairobi Kenya.

Last year the event was held in Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania in partnership with Oracle. This year the event is bigger and better having brought on board more sector players to partner with us and over 200 attendees from across the continent.

For the first time, CIO has partnered with ICT Authority to bring on board some of the Students from the Presidential Digital Talent Programme, who will assist with the event. CIO East Africa has also partnered with ISACA Kenyan chapter, a nonprofit, independent association that advocates for professionals involved in information security, assurance, risk management and governance.

Among the key topics to be covered will include Governance, Risk and Compliance, securing citizen data, the dark web, security intelligence, selling security to the board among other security related topics. The event  has been sponsored by Westcon, Paramount, VMware, Next Technologies, Sophos, Internet Solutions, Eset, Little Cab, African eDevelopment Resource Centre, ISACA, ICT Authority, International Data Group (IDG) and Government of Kenya.

This year will also present an opportunity to attendees to schedule one-on-one meetings to explore collaboration and partnerships. These meetings will be facilitated through an event networking app available only to registered attendees.

To augment the keynotes and panel discussions during the Africa Security Summit, CIO East Africa has also designed 3 hands-on workshops that will help you understand the hacker mindset and equip the attendees to secure your enterprise.

These workshops will be facilitated by renown faculty, experts in the IT and Information Security arena. These are MUST attend for both C-Suite office holders and the technical officers. The Africa Security Summit will also help C-level executives on the continent better understand the true threats, what is required to address them and how effective, efficient solutions deliver competitive advantages.

Through a unique blend of focused Executive Visions panel discussions, analyst sessions, visionary Keynote presentations and networking breaks, technology executives will share insight and gain critical takeaways about perhaps the most critical issue they face. The Africa Summit will also explore the dangers facing organizations and will address these key pillars around Cyber Security, Content and Data Privacy and Governance, Risk and compliance.

The event comes at a time when Cybersecurity Ventures predict global spending on cybersecurity products and services to exceed $1 trillion cumulatively over the next five years, from 2017 to 2021. In 2004, the global cybersecurity market was worth $3.5 billion  and in 2017 it is expected to be worth more than $120 billion growing by roughly 35X over 13 years. Indeed, the market for stolen credit cards alone is worth of US$100 billion, handily outstripping the entire global cocaine market.
